I have always put on house shows, wherever I have lived, but I never documented them. My favorite show was long ago when I lived in Echo Park, and Kraig Grady and Erin Barnes played their home-made zithers and just-intoned metallophones, which are xylophones with super hero powers. The vibrations made people hang off doors, and pieces of the ceiling splashed into the punch.
At some point we understood that special shows were happening in our living room, and we began recording them. In early 2019, this podcast was born. Clay Chaplin records the musicians; I make some food and batten down the hatches, and then we both interview the artists after the night is done. Here’s what we have so far.
